Q2: How long does it take to install a stairlift?
A: Installation for straight stairlifts typically takes 1-3 hours. Process typically include complimentary in home consultation and measurements, followed by another appointment to complete the install. We prepare lift and cut rail in our shop so there is minimal disruption in your home.
Q3: Are Acorn and Pilot stairlifts safe to use?
A: Yes, both brands adhere to strict safety standards. Features include seat belts, obstruction sensors, swivel seats, and battery operated to ensure safe and reliable use.
Q4: Can stairlifts be installed on outdoor stairs?
A: Both Acorn and Pilot offer outdoor stairlifts designed with weather-resistant materials.
Q5: What maintenance is required for Acorn and Pilot stairlifts?
A: Routine maintenance involves cleaning rails, checking batteries, and inspecting mechanical parts annually. Mobility 4U recommends annual maintenance but it is not required.
Q6: Do stairlifts fit any staircase?
A: Most straight staircases can accommodate a stairlift. Mobility 4U specializes in installing 2 or more straight lifts to stairs where there is a flat landing between straight sections. In some cases, we can convert spiral turn pizza chape stairs) into a flat landing to accommodate straight lift installation. We do not offer custom-made curved lifts.
Q7: How much do Acorn and Pilot stairlifts cost?
A: Prices vary based on model and staircase complexity. Straight stairlifts typically range from $3,100 to $5,500.
Q8: Can stairlifts be used by people with limited mobility or weight restrictions?
A: Mobility 4U offers stairlifts with weight limits from 300-450 lbs. Heavy-duty models exist for higher weight capacities.
Q9: What warranty do Acorn and Pilot stairlifts offer?
A: Mobility 4U offers standard 1 year manufacturing warranty on new Acorn lifts. Pilot lifts have 5 years warranty on parts and 2 years warranty on electronics. In addition, Mobility 4U offers 12 months free repair on all our used units.
Q10: Can stairlifts be transferred if I move homes?
A: If your new home has straight stairs, Mobility 4U can move the lift to your new location, if the new location is inside our service map coverage area.
Q11: Are there financing options available?
A: Mobility 4U offers three months rent-to-own option where you can start by paying smaller installation-only fee and have three months to decide to continue renting or purchase the lift. There is no interest charge for the first 3 months.
Q12: How do battery-powered stairlifts work during power outages?
A: Battery-powered models continue functioning during power failures, ensuring safe stair traversal without interruption.
Q13: Can stairlifts accommodate users with disabilities such as wheelchair users?
A: Traditional stairlifts are designed for users who can sit in the chair of the lift (with or without assistance).
